How can loyalty programs bring brand values to life?

How can loyalty programs bring brand values to life while simultaneously boosting sales? VollCorner’s "RegioWochen" (Regional Weeks) demonstrate how regionality, gamification, and personalization can be combined into a unique shopping experience. Together with the Convercus Loyalty Engine, a campaign was created that highlights regional producers, engages customers, and provides valuable insights into purchasing behavior.

The challenge: Making regionality visible

Regionality has been a core component of the VollCorner brand for decades. Behind their product range lies a close-knit network of organic farms, producers, and manufacturers from the Munich area. The challenge was to make this specific network more visible and provide customers with a new way to connect with regional products.

The goal was intentionally more than just a classic sales promotion. Instead of pushing individual products through discounts, the aim was to create a campaign that puts the stories behind the products center stage, makes the diversity of the regional range tangible, and simultaneously creates additional incentives to purchase.

The RegioWochen: Content, loyalty, and gamification in one campaign

With the RegioWochen, VollCorner has developed a campaign that connects various touchpoints.

In stores, on social media, in the app, and via the new digital RegioMap, regional producers are introduced and their products are showcased. The campaign demonstrates that regionality at VollCorner is not just a short-term marketing topic, but part of the company's DNA.

A key component is the new interactive RegioMap within the CarrotCard app. It provides long-term visibility for regional partners and helps customers get to know the network behind the products better.

The loyalty mechanic: Discovering the regional range through play

At the heart of the campaign is a digital stamp card within the CarrotCard app.

Customers collect stamps when purchasing regional products across four different product categories:

  • Dairy, Eggs & Delicatessen
  • Bakery & Sweets
  • Meat, Sausage & Fish
  • Pantry, Freshly Cooked & Personal Care

Once all four categories have been completed, participants automatically receive a coupon as a reward.

This mechanic follows an important strategic approach: customers are encouraged not just to buy individual promotional items, but to discover the entire variety of regional products.

Technical implementation with the Convercus Loyalty Engine

The entire campaign logic was implemented using the Convercus Loyalty Engine.

What is particularly remarkable is that the entire campaign was implemented without any traditional software development. All workflows, rules, triggers, and app content were set up using low-code and no-code configurations.

This allowed campaign components to be adjusted flexibly without relying on development capacity or deployment cycles.

For marketing teams, this means a significantly faster time-to-market combined with a high degree of flexibility.

Maximum precision through data quality

A key success factor of the campaign is its data quality.

Regional products are mapped not by product names or text matching, but directly via EAN codes and article IDs. This ensures that every purchase at the checkout is assigned to exactly the right products and categories.

For the campaign, we:

  • integrated more than 1,500 regional products
  • accounted for nearly 3,000 EAN codes
  • performed multi-stage data quality and collision checks

This approach ensures high reliability during live operation and prevents misallocations when awarding stamps.

Real-time personalization

The customer experience was designed to be consistently personalized.

After every qualifying purchase, the individual progress of the stamp card is updated in real time. At the same time, customers automatically receive personalized push notifications to keep them informed of their progress.

The completion of the challenge is also actively celebrated: as soon as all four categories have been collected, an automatic success message is sent, including the reward.

This creates a continuous dialogue with customers rather than a one-off campaign communication.

Careful preparation for a smooth rollout

Before launch, the entire campaign was comprehensively tested with a dedicated group of test users.

Following successful user acceptance testing, the campaign went live for the entire CarrotCard user base. This ensured that both the technical logic and the customer experience functioned reliably from day one.

What loyalty managers can learn from the RegioWochen

The RegioWochen demonstrate that modern loyalty programs can be much more than just a digital points card or a tool for short-term sales promotion.

Loyalty initiatives are particularly effective when they strengthen brand identity and offer customers genuine added value. Instead of relying solely on price advantages, VollCorner combines brand values, storytelling, personalization, and gamification into a consistent customer experience.

For loyalty and marketing managers, three key success factors can be derived from this:

  • Actively integrate brand values into the customer journey
  • Create personalized interactions throughout the shopping experience
  • Use data to optimize campaigns and gain relevant customer insights

The RegioWochen also illustrate how technology can be used strategically to make brand values visible and measurable in the daily lives of customers.

For VollCorner, this means:

  • greater visibility for regional producers
  • stronger interaction with the regional product range
  • valuable insights into customer purchasing behavior
  • a brand message that is not just communicated, but actively experienced

And that is exactly where the true strength of this campaign lies:

Regionality is not just advertised; it is brought to life.
